Biogas and energy autonomy<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

At Rozelieures, producing in a responsible and sustainable way has always been at the heart of the company’s problematic. Whether in the fields or in the distillery. Rozelieures, with two partners breeders and farmers, has built its own unit of methanization, Bio\u00e9nergie Rozelieures, with a capacity of 200 kWel, is the strange green bubble that can be seen below the distillery. This little marvel of technology and biochemistry allows the almost complete autonomy (85%) in energy of the distillery. It is fed, in part, by the draffs and residues of the brewing and distillation operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Plant cover and sustainable agriculture<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

What is a cover crop? It is a secondary crop planted between two main crops that is used as green manure. For example, we plant alfalfa between two cereal crops. This reduces soil erosion but also enriches the soil with organic matter. This vegetation cover will especially allow to fix nitrates and to limit the pollution of drinking water. This technique also helps to mitigate global warming. Indeed, it allows to fix the CO2 present in the air and to store the carbon in the soils. Through its application, the Rozelieures distillery farm is part of a virtuous circle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Conversion to organic farming<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

On the 300 hectares of the farm, 50 are in organic conversion. Since one year Rozelieures has started its conversion to organic farming. The label should be obtained in 2 years. For this conversion, Rozelieures applies a strict schedule of conditions. On the concerned plots we do not use any pesticide or chemical fertilizer of synthesis. Through this process we will be able to produce an organic whisky as soon as we obtain the label.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
