Our Story

A family history spanning six generations!

Nestled in the rolling hills of Lorraine, in the village of Rozelieures in north-eastern France, our history is deeply rooted in family, tradition and a passion passed down from generation to generation.

We, the Grallet family, have been cultivating our land for 9 generations with care and respect to produce the finest plots of grain and fruit orchards (mirabelle plums, plums and pears). Each field is known intimately, observed and tended with love. We have been distilling fruit eaux-de-vie since 1890 using fruit from our orchards.

From this deep connection to the land, a simple but bold idea was born in the early 2000s: to produce whisky entirely under one roof, from the land to the glass. This vision has made Rozelieures whisky one of the first French whiskies and one of the only whisky distilleries in the world where all stages of production are controlled in-house. Every stage of production takes place on our estate, from growing the barley to bottling, including malting, brewing, distilling and ageing in one of our six cellars. Each stage is carried out with meticulous attention, patience and passion. Today, we still work as a family to continue honouring this heritage.

Our sons bring new and innovative energy while respecting the traditions passed down by their grandparents. Each generation has contributed to shaping the identity of Rozelieures, combining innovation and craftsmanship.

The first step will be harvesting our raw material in July: the barley harvest.

August: the mirabelle plum harvest

The second step will be malting the barley.

After malting the barley, it’s time to start brewing!

Finally, the time for distillation has come

And finally, ageing in our six cellars.
Even in an old military fort from 1872!
